The Double Gold medal was received for Royal DeMaria 2001 Vidal Icewine. Other winnings in this year’s competition included 3 Gold Medals for Royal DeMaria 2002 Meritage Icewine, Royal DeMaria 2002 Merlot Icewine, and Royal DeMaria 2002 Riesling Icewine, 2 Silver Medals for Royal DeMaria 2002 Winter Harvest Muscat Ottonel, and Royal DeMaria 2002 Gewurztraminer Icewine, and 1 Bronze Medal for Royal DeMaria 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Icewine.

Winemaker Joseph DeMaria was quoted as saying, “I am very happy with the results of this year’s competition. With a very strong market in the United States, it is wonderful to be able to showcase our icewines to such a supportive audience, and to support such a meaningful charity.” All proceeds raised from this “International World Class” judging support Camp Good Days and Special Times, Inc., a camp for children with cancer, located in the heart of New York’s Finger Lakes wine country. 100% of net proceeds are used to fund camp stays and events to benefit children from around the world who are battling cancer.
